Wine of the Weekend
Bieler Père et Fils
Sabine Rosé 2011 Coteaux d'Aix en Provence AC

It doesn't matter if you call her Maman, Mama or Mom, this Sunday is her day and one of the nicest things you can do is lovingly prepare a brunch for her. Of course, you will need the perfect wine to sip and linger over, something pretty and stylish that will make all of the food taste better. Here is great candidate - a beautiful Spanish white wine with just a kiss of elegant oak. Perfect.

Tasting Note: Antea almost smells like brunch with notes of melon, fruit preserve, baked scones and spice on the nose. The palate starts off dry and fruity and really opens up with an attractive, rich creamy texture complemented with notes of spring fruit and peach. This medium-bodied wine finishes elegantly with a very alluring mix of fruit and toast.

Enjoy With: Egg dishes like quiche or frittata, smoked salmon, seafood and most brunch dishes.

Style: Dry, fruity, lush, medium-bodied white wine.

Terroir / Region: Rioja (Ree-oh-ha) is one of Spain’s most famous grape growing regions, and is home to many of the most important and well recognized wineries or Bodegas (you might have already tried the Marqués de Caceres Crianza Red). Rioja’s cooler climate allows both red and white grapes to fully ripen over a long growing season. The Rioja region has been awarded a special appellation level because of the high quality of their wines.

Producer: While Marqués de Caceres is a relative newcomer to Rioja, the Bodega has quickly gained an international reputation as one of the finest and most prestigious brands in Spain. The brand was the brainchild of a famous Bordeaux winemaking family, the Forners, and one of France’s most distinguished professors of wine making, Emile Peynaud, who recognized the tremendous potential of the region.

Availability: Marqués de Caceres Antea Blanco Fermenté en Barrique is available through Vintages this weekend. Some stores will already have the wine available for sale.

Remember your reusable shopping bag & please enjoy responsibly.
