2007 Fontana Morella Bianco DOC
Tasting Note: Fontana Morella Bianco is a blend of the traditional Italian varitals of Trebbiano and Malvasia. The wine is crisp and fresh with wonderful aromatic citrus and floral notes. The wine is unoaked to maintain its freshness and best to drink it young.
Enjoy With: A rule of thumb is that wines always go best with the foods from their region and climate. Fontana Morella is a perfect match to Mediterranean seabass but also goes with tilapia, mahi mahi, scallops or lobster. Basically whatever seafood you find on sale.
Dry / Sweet: Dry white wine.
Terroir / Region: Cantina Cerveteri is located in the region of Lazio, north of Rome. Lazio has a famous soccer team but not exactly a top of mind wine region in Italy. The great thing is that the lack of pedigree also means much better value wines. The area of about two thousand hectares is known for its gentle sloped hills, softly descending towards the coast. The peculiar geologic and climatic traits of this area are perfect for vineyards, yielding high quality grapes. Much of the vineyard area is on old volcanic soils.
Producer: Cantina Cerveteri was established in 1960. The Cantina's influence extended to a large area where it now gathers grapes harvested in the towns throughout the region. The Cantina has since continued to gain a considerable credit in the regional, national and foreign markets. At the present day, seven hundred associates cooperate to form the Cantina Cerveteri, representing a social and economical establishment for the Lazio area.
Availability: Every day on regular LCBO shelves in the Italian White section.
