CJ Pask GIMBLETT ROAD
CABERNET MERLOT MALBEC 2006
Tasting Note: The main varietal in this blend is Cabernet Sauvignon with nuances of cassis and blackcurrants that are supported by silky textured Merlot and spicy Malbec fruit. This red exhibits fine tannins from its 14 months of ageing in French and American oak and although it is showing well now, it will appreciate in quality with 2-4 years in the cellar. This distinct blend offers incredible value for its refined elegance and vibrant fruit.
Enjoy With: This deep garnet wine is excellent with rare red meats, long-simmering casseroles or try it with a selection of homemade gourmet pizzas.
Dry / Sweet: Dry, red wine.
Terroir / Region:
Situated in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand’s Northeast wine country gem that specializes in Bordeaux-style blends, CJ Pask benefits from a stunning Mediterranean climate with year-round temperatures of 19.3 degrees. Fine sandy topsoil overlying stony gravel allows for free-draining soils, ideal for winegrowing.
Producer: CJ Pask was the first company to plant grapes in the world-renowned Gimblett Road winegrowing region and now arguably New Zealand’s finest producer of Merlot. Also known as one of New Zealand’s greenest wineries, Pask’s commitment to environmental sustainability turns out award-winning wines that reflect the company’s values and aspirations. Environmental procedures ensure the limited use of water, power and fuel while composting and mulching are fundamental practices.
