De Bortoli Deen Vat 10 Pinot Noir

$15.95

Finding the perfect wine for Thanksgiving dinner can be a challenge for red wine lovers, since the turkey's delicate flavours are so easily overwhelmed by big, bold reds. Why not try a bottle of De Bortoli Deen Vat 10 Pinot Noir? It's a lighter (but not lame) red that won’t overwhelm the bird, and its fruity spiciness complements all the fixings.

Tasting Note: Sweet spice, sour cherries and red berries on the nose with subtle toasty oak and an earthy forest-floor character. On the palate, creamy strawberries and spice finish with a pleasant herbaceous lift. Silky, just-there tannins give added texture and structure.

Enjoy With: Turkey, naturally! But you'll love it year round with duck, pasta, pork and weightier fish, like grilled salmon or tuna.

Style: Dry, fruity red wine.

Terroir / Region: De Bortoli has a number of vineyards throughout Victoria and New South Wales, and this wine is a blend of fruit from several of them.

Producer: De Bortoli is a third-generation family company that was established in 1928 by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli. It was greatly expanded by their son Deen, who ran the company until his death in 2003. The winery has a range of brands and price points (and is most famous for its multi-award-winning Noble One, the benchmark of Australian dessert wines), but his Vat Series was created with the goal of producing delicious, full-flavoured wines at an affordable price. Deen personally selected the blends and chalked the numbers on the vats to identify them - hence the name. Today, his legacy lives on in his four children, who are directly involved with the different branches of the company.
