Tasting Note: Lively aromas of strawberries and Morello cherries are seasoned with spiced sweet vanilla from quality-oak aging. Fresh and fleshy in the mouth, with a delicious balance between the fruit and smooth tannins. A value wine of great complexity and length.

Enjoy With: An extremely versatile table wine, this is great with any Mediterranean-influenced cuisine. Try it with a wide range of grilled, stewed or roasted meats.

Style: Dry, red wine.

Terroir / Region: Located in the north of the country, Rioja is the leading wine region of Spain. Named after the river Oja (rio+oja=rioja), wine has been made here since the time of the Romans. Protected from intense heat to the south and cold rain to the north, Rioja is perfectly situated to produce classicly elegant wines from the noble tempranillo grape.

Producer: Marqués de Cáceres is owned by the Forner family, exiles from the Spanish civil war who settled in Bordeaux and established themselves as renowned producers. They returned to Rioja in 1970 and proceeded to shake up the traditionalist region with their modern Bordeaux techniques. Today, Henri and daughter Cristina run the show, and they continue to make premium wines that find the perfect balance between classic and contemporary style.

Availability: Available in the Spanish section of your local LCBO.
